    What underwriters look at

The four things that move your rate

The same four levers drive nearly every commercial trucking quote. Knowing them is half the negotiation.

    Equipment + age

Newer trucks aren't always cheaper. Class, GVWR, and what you haul drive your physical-damage rate as much as the model year.

    Radius + lanes

Intrastate operators usually pay 20-30% less than long-haul. Underwriters care a lot about how far you actually drive on a typical day.

    Drivers + MVRs

Three years of MVR history per driver. A single violation can shift your rate band; clean drivers across the board move you to the best tier.

    Loss history

Five years of loss runs. Frequency matters more than severity — three minor claims hurt more than one large one with a clean follow-up year.

    Rough ballpark numbers

    What carriers typically pay

These are wide ranges. Your specific rate depends on the four factors above — the calculator narrows it down.

    Owner-operator

    $800–$1,400

per month, single truck, clean MVR, US-48

    Small fleet (2-5)

    $650–$1,200

per truck per month, regional operation

    Mid fleet (6-20)

    $500–$950

per truck per month, established loss history

These are not quotes. Real numbers vary based on your operation, equipment, drivers, and loss history. Use the calculator above for an actual estimate.

    After your estimate

The calculator is the starting line, not the finish.

Once you've got your estimate, we'll follow up with a real comparison — using the same details, prefilled.

    Real loss-run review

Calculators don't know your specific loss history. Five years of data changes your rate band more than almost anything else.

    Underwriter relationships

We know which carriers favor your operation type. The same risk gets very different quotes from different underwriters.

    Dec page audit

Most carriers overpay because of how the policy is structured, not the underlying risk. We catch that during the follow-up.
