    Primary Liability

Primary Liability Insurance is the foundation of any commercial trucking insurance policy. This coverage protects you financially if your truck causes an accident that results in bodily injury or property damage to others. It's required by federal and state law for all commercial motor carriers.

Required by FMCSA for all interstate motor carriers
Covers bodily injury to third parties
    Protects against property damage claims
Minimum coverage of $750,000 required for most truckers

    Physical Damage

Physical Damage Insurance covers the cost to repair or replace your truck and trailer if they're damaged in a collision, overturned, or affected by fire, theft, vandalism, or natural disasters. This coverage is especially important if you're financing or leasing your equipment.

Collision coverage for accidents with other vehicles or objects
Comprehensive coverage for theft, fire, and weather damage
Protects your investment in expensive equipment
Often required by lenders and lessors
    Covers both tractors and trailers

    Cargo Insurance

Cargo Insurance protects the freight you're hauling while it's in transit or being loaded/unloaded. If the cargo is damaged, destroyed, or stolen, this coverage helps pay for the loss. Most brokers and shippers require proof of cargo insurance before they'll contract with you.

Covers goods from pickup to final delivery
Protection against theft, damage, and spoilage
Required by most brokers and shippers
Coverage limits based on cargo type and value
Specialized coverage available for refrigerated loads — 'Reefer Breakdown'

    General Liability

General Liability Insurance covers your trucking business for non-vehicle-related incidents. This includes injuries that occur at your business premises, advertising injuries, and other claims that arise from your business operations outside of driving.

Covers slip-and-fall accidents at your business location
    Protects against advertising injury claims
Essential for truckers with physical business locations
    Complements your auto liability coverage

    Trailer Interchange

Trailer Interchange Insurance covers physical damage to trailers you're hauling under a trailer interchange agreement with another party. When you're pulling someone else's trailer under contract, their insurance typically won't cover damage — this policy fills that gap.

Covers trailers you don't own but are hauling
    Required for most interchange agreements
Protects against collision and comprehensive damage
Essential for intermodal and port operations
Coverage follows the trailer, not the tractor

    Non-Trucking Liability

Non-Trucking Liability (also called Bobtail Insurance) covers you when you're using your truck for non-business purposes. If you cause an accident while off-dispatch — like driving home after dropping a load — this coverage protects you when your motor carrier's policy doesn't.

Covers personal use of your commercial truck
    Active when you're off-dispatch
Fills gaps in motor carrier's insurance
